Purpose
Adventure Vessels is a growing company that sells kayaks and related accessories. Previously, the company did not have Sales Associates available to guide customers in selecting the kayak best suited to their needs and experience level. As a result, customers often made purchasing decisions based solely on appearance and price, which frequently led to dissatisfaction and product returns.
To address this issue, Adventure Vessels created a new Sales Associate role. However, these associates required targeted training on kayak types, features, and use cases in order to confidently support customers in making informed purchasing decisions. The business goal of this training initiative was to reduce kayak returns by 30%.
Process
I began this project by defining the performance outcomes Sales Associates needed to achieve in order to confidently guide customers toward the right kayak. With a clear business goal of reducing returns by 30%, I designed the learning experience around a single, intentional instructional path that ensures all critical content is completed. Within that structure, learners are given autonomy to choose the order in which they explore sections, balancing instructional control with learner agency.
I then built the module in Articulate Storyline 360 using advanced platform features to manage progression, sequencing, and completion requirements. I implemented conditional logic and variables to allow flexible navigation while preventing learners from advancing until all required sections were completed.
This project showcases my ability to use advanced Articulate Storyline 360 functionality to design structured, performance-based learning experiences. It highlights my proficiency with variables, conditional logic, and completion gating to manage learner progression while preserving flexibility and learner agency. The module demonstrates how I use Storyline not just for interactivity, but as a tool to intentionally support accountability, instructional flow, and real-world application aligned to business goals.
